In the fall term, Union College students participated in The Fed Challenge, a national competition organized by the Federal Reserve. This prestigious event invites undergraduate teams from across the United States to analyze economic and financial conditions and formulate monetary policy recommendations, mirroring the role of the Federal Reserve.
This year marked the College’s first entry into the competition. Five students, advised by Prateek Arora, assistant professor of economics, started in July to prepare their submission. The team included Tri Le ’27, Nicole Orlofsky ’27, Ryan Petrauskas ’27, Suka Nguyen ’25, and Jack Varner ’25.
The team’s efforts culminated in a 15-minute video submission, showcasing months of rigorous research and strategic analysis.
“The research and preparation that went into this challenge deserve recognition,” said Professor Arora. “The students worked incredibly hard to deliver a thoughtful and well-researched presentation.”
